Spreadsheets are absolutely great and can be used for so many reasons. You can use them to work out you company budget, show your inventory, log email or fax phone numbers, show profit and loss for several years at a time, maintain customer information, use as a slide presentation, the ideas are endless and could be a very profitable tool to you. One of the greatest things about an Excel spreadsheet is that if you can export a database or spreadsheet to a text file, then Excel can read it, this will save you money so that you don't have to pay for someone to retype everything into the computer. If your computer system is a Unix system you should have the ability to download to a text file. Any text field can be eliminated or sorted to produce only the information you request. Charts and graphs are visual tools that can be created to show your customers, employees or bankers what you want them to know. My charge for creating spreadsheets depends on if you can supply me with a text file. If you supply me with at text file my charge is $13.00 per hour. If I have type everything into a spreadsheet the charge is $18.00 per hour.
